The friendly Haight Ashbury District, called "The Haight" by locals, is home to many shops and boutiques, families, college students, restaurants, cafes, and bars.
We're only one block from the world famous Golden Gate Park, four miles from Ocean Beach, three-and-a-half miles from the historic Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street, and a bit further than three miles from the Golden Gate Bridge. The Haight inhabits the center of San Francisco, and we're easy to reach via several excellent MUNI lines, including the 6, 7, 33, 37, 43, 66, and 71 buses, and the N Judah train. When you visit, leave the car behind; you don't need it to get here, and it's a pain to park and drive in our dense urban neighborhood. Really!
Although it's been 35 years since The Summer of Love, it's true that a few hippies of all ages still call our neighborhood home. So, like, dig one of our murals, man.
